I am the founder of TravelAble, an autism mom, and trained travel professional with a mission to empower families to live adventurously. In 2009, my journey was redefined by the very premature birth of my son while stationed overseas. This experience, and the subsequent navigation through medical and cognitive diagnoses and challenges, taught me and my family first-hand the trials and tribulations of traveling while caring for our son.
One of my favorite trips with my family was a cross country road trip, taking a month to get from Virginia to Arizona and back. We saw so many amazing sites, National Parks, fun roadside attractions, and really connected with each other.
I am also a sought-after speaker on autism adventure, presenting around the country on my secrets to travel success. In 2019-2020, I presented in Los Angeles and Chicago at the Abilities Expo, a national disability resource expo. I also give pro bono presentations to societies, therapy centers, parent universities, and other community gatherings. I am a proud partner of the ALS Association and the MS Society.
I am a Certified Travel Associate (CTA), having earned my designation from The Travel Institute, the oldest and most respected non-profit certification organization in the travel industry.
These credentials require that I have at least 18 months of travel industry work experience, completed rigorous certification and testing, and continue to fulfill stringent education credit requirements each year. Much like an accountant or doctor with their respective credentials, my CTA designation means that I am committed to upholding the highest standards of my profession while providing expert advice to my customers.
I am a proud member of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) and the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA). I hold numerous certifications in disability-friendly destinations and cruise lines.
